OUR PURPOSE

Hush Puppy Haven is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated on April 15, 2011, based in Daytona Beach, Florida. From 2011 – 2020, we provided temporary foster, pet food, supplies and vet care to over 100 animals in domestic violence situations, so their owners could get the help they needed to start over.

In March 2020, we partnered up with the Council on Aging of Volusia County, and together we launched the PetMeals on Wheels, a program that supplements the existing Meals on Wheels program to include pets of seniors in need. Every month Hush Puppy Haven provides our local Council on Aging cat and dog food, cat litter, pet supplies and other small pet food which is then distributed throughout Volusia County. We are also able to assist seniors with needed pet vaccines, and veterinary bill assistance, on occasion, when needed. This program is solely dependent on financial and pet food donations. There is no paid staff at Hush Puppy Haven. All donations go directly to caring for pets and related program expenses.

Our goal has always been to try to keep pets and their families together, and although we are no longer equipped to foster pets, our mission lives on in the PetMeals on Wheels program. We will continue providing our local senior pet owners the assistance they need to be able to keep their furry companions at home with them. All PetMeals on Wheels recipients must go through the Council on Aging of Volusia County for assistance. We are in constant need of unopened dog or cat food and cat litter!
